Ingredients listed in order of use:
1½ c shortening
2 c packed brown sugar
1 c granulated sugar
2 eggs
½ c water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
2 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
6 c oats
1 c chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream together shortening, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add water, salt, soda, and vanilla to mixture. Carefully add the flour and mix well. Stir in the oats and then the chocolate chips. Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 14-16 minutes.

You can also substitute raisins for the chocolate chips, to make Oatmeal Raisin cookies. Or you can try 1 cup of shredded coconut instead of the chocolate chips for a different treat All are good!
