3/4 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped dates
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts





Directions:
Directions:
Place chopped dates, 1/4 cup butter in 3/4 cup boiling water. Allow to cool. Add 3/4 cup sugar, 1 beaten egg, 1 tsp vanilla and mix well. Add flour, salt and baking soda. Stir together until just blended. Pour into greased and floured bread pan. Let stand in bread pan for 15 minutes before baking. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 50 to 60 minutes/
