1 package active dry yeast
1 ¼ cups water (105º-115º)
pinch sugar
pinch ground ginger
3 T sugar
1 ½ t salt
1 T butter
1 T caraway seeds
1 t ground sage
3 ½ cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine water, pinch of yeast and pinch of ground ginger. Sprinkle yeast on top and let bubble. In a mixing bowl with the dough hook add: sugar, salt, butter, 2 t caraway seeds, sage, flour and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic. Put in a greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled, about an hour. Punch down, turn out on floured board and divide in half. Roll each half into a rectangle 12" long. Cut rectangle into 12 pieces. Twist each piece on the board with the palms of your hands to form a rope about ⅓ inch thick and 12 inches long. Put on a greased cookie sheet. Complete the remaining 23 breadsticks. Sprinkle lightly with remaining caraway seeds. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Bake in a preheated 400º over for 15-20 minutes
