1 package yellow cake mix (regular size)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
2 eggs
(I added 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon)
2 cups chopped dates (I got whole ones from Whole Foods, the cheaper ones.)
2 cups chopped walnuts (I used pecans because I already had them)
(I rolled mine in powdered sugar not required in recipe.)

In a large bowl, combine cake mix and brown sugar. Add butter and eggs; beat on low speed (batter will be stiff.)

Spread into a greased 13"x9" baking pan. Bake at 350 F for 35-45 minutes (err on the lesser side or they get too chewy or until edges are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Run a knife around sides of pan to loosen. Cool completely before cutting.

Next time I plan to bake this thinner and shorten time; the bars seemed too thick.
