Preheat oven to 350º.
Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, butter, sugar and cardomom. Add flour until workable (the dough will seem a little greasy and light-- you want this) Let rise 45 minutes. Punch down. Shape into roll sized balls. Place on a cookie sheet, not touching. Let raise for 15 more minutes. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden. Let cool before serving. Slice in half and make into little sandwiches using the fillings.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe means a lot to me in the way of family history. My great-grandmother Guloug Lesetmo Hunter came from Norway and eventually settled with her husband in Minnesota. My Grandpa Hunter always spoke with an accent that reflected his mother's Norwegian influence on the Minnesotan accent. Later, my grandparents served a mission to Norway. One of the many things they brought back with them, was this recipe.
We have made this an Easter traditional meal at our house. It includes most of the things that makes an Easter dinner wonderful with a Scandinavian twist.
