Pre-heat oven to 450º

⅓ cup shortening
2 cups all-purpose flour
2½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
⅔ to ¾ cup milk
½ cup sugar
⅓ cup finely chopped pecans
¼ cup (½ stick) butter or margarine, melted
2 tbsp. honey

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball.

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll into rectangle, 16x11 inches. Mix remaining ingredients; reserve ¼ cup. Spread remaining pecan mixture over rectangle. Roll up, beginning at 16-inch side; pinch edges to seal. Cut into 1-inch slices.

Place slices, cut sides down, in ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Spread remaining pecan mixture over slices; Bake 15 to 17 minutes, or until golden
