* 1 quart strawberries
* 3 large egg whites (if eggs are small use 4 egg whites)
* 1/2 tsp baking powder
* 1 cup sugar
* 3/4 cup finely crushed soda crackers
* 1/2 cup chopped pecans
* 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Clean strawberries, slice in half and refrigerate. Generously butter a 9 inch pie plate. Beat egg whites and baking powder until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla until whites are stiff. Fold in cracker crumbs and pecans. Spread mixture evenly on bottom and up sides of pie plate. Bake in 300º oven for 30 minutes and let cool. Fill meringue shell with strawberries and top with whipped cream. Chill for several hours before serving.
