* 1 lb. ground beef
* 1 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp pepper
* 1 Tbsp fresh minced garlic
* 1/2 cup chopped onion
* 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
* 1 - 8oz pkg fresh mushrooms sliced; optional
* 1 - 29 oz. can tomato puree
* 3/4 tsp oregano
* 3/4 tsp sweet basil
* 1 Tbsp parsley flakes
* 1 tsp Italian seasoning
* 2 Tbsp sugar

Brown ground beef in a large skillet, and season with salt and pepper. Add the garlic, onion and green pepper cooking until onion is transparent. If adding mushrooms, put them into the meat mixture now, cook for 5 minutes, if needed drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve over cooked, drained spaghetti. Recipe makes about 4 cups of sauce.

Note: When doubling the recipe I will use 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of Italian sausage.
