1 pound hamburger
1 pound sweet Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
2 6 oz cans tomato paste
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tbs white sugar
1 tsp ground oregano
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound lasagna noodles
30 oz ricotta cheese
1 large egg
pinch ground nutmeg
1 pound sliced mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Directions:
Directions:
place ground sausage and ground beef into heavy pan over medium heat. Brown and break up into small pieces. Add onion and garlic and cook until meat is browned. Stir in sugar, oregano, basil and the various cans of tomato preparations. Add chicken broth. Simmer for at least an hour.

Mix the ricotta with the egg and nutmeg

Boil the noodles

Assemble the lasagna in a deep 9x13 pan: sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan.. Repeat the layers (2 or three times, depending on depth of pan. and top with parmesan cheese. Cover with foil. Cook at 375 for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake/brown an additional 25 minutes
