Dressing:
½ c. each sour cream and mayo
1 tsp. sugar
½ tsp. salt
2 T. fresh dill or 1 T. dried
2 T. white vinegar

Salad:
½ lb. rotini pasta, cooked al dente, and rinsed in cold water
1 English cucumber (that's the long one)
½ c. thinly sliced sweet onion

Combine all dressing ingredients in a small bowl, whisking until mixed; set aside
Place sliced onion in a small bowl of cold water and allow to soak for a few minutes; then drain, pat dry, and set aside (this will remove some of the strong bite from the onion).
Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise (remove seeds if you like; not really necessary, but some people don't like them)
Then slice thinly and place in a large bowl. Add drained onions, pasta, and dressing. Toss thoroughly and refrigerate for about an hour.

My mom used to make this without the pasta. I added the pasta to make it a little more filling to use as a side for a cookout. It was a hit!
