Personal Notes:
Grandma Mabel Hoofnagle first made these cookies for her family after her daughter Mary Stephens had moved away from home. Mary’s younger sister Helen brought the recipe to the West when she moved to California, and the cookies have become a huge family tradition. When these crispy cookies are shared, a request for the recipe is sure to follow.
