3 lb ground beef
2-3 cups bread crumbs (usually use the plain bread crumbs but you can use Italian bread crumbs )
2 pkg dried onion soup mix (e.g. Lipton onion soup mix)
2 eggs
1-2 tbsp mustard (optional)
1-2 tbsp relish (optional)
1-2 tbsp horseradish (optional)
Ketchup

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the bread crumbs, soup mix, eggs, and other chosen optional ingredients. Add to the ground beef.
Mold into loaf shape in shallow baking pan.
Spread ketchup over the meat loaf.

Bake at 350 ºF for 90 minutes (to get that dark crispy stuff on the edges).

Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy!

Grandpa Rich's meat loaf is a favorite of the grandchildren (except Noah)! Grandma Helene never made any more meatloaf after Grandpa retired! Grandpa did experiment often with his recipe but this is the core recipe!
