1 c buttermilk (not lowfat)
1 pkg yeast
2-1/2 c flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda (baking soda)
4 T sugar
6 T Crisco (vegetable shortening)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in buttermilk preheated 15-20 seconds in microwave. Sift flour, sugar, salt and soda together and cut in Crisco until it looks like cornmeal. Add buttermilk mixture to flour and knead about 25 or 30 strokes. Roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut and dip in melted butter and place (in pan, stacked) in layers of two. Let rise about 1-1/2 hours; bake at 400˚F for about 12 minutes.
