1 pkg dry yeast
1/2 c warm water
3/4 c warm milk
2 Tbs sugar 3 Tbs shortening
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 c flour
3/4 c sugar
2 Tbs cinnamon
1 c nuts, chopped
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 stick butter, melted
1 1/2 c confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
milk (to form a fairly thick consistency)

Preheat oven 350F
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside.
Combine warm milk, 2 Tbs sugar, shortening and salt. Cool to lukewarm and add to yeast. Add Flour. Knead until smooth.
Cover and let rise until doubled. Divide dough into 12 balls.
Combine 3/4 c sugar, cinnamon, nuts and brown sugar.
Dip balls of dough in melted butter then in cinnamon/nuts/sugar mixture. Slightly twist each ball into about an 8 inch strand.
Then, starting in the center of greased baking sheet, Form a pinwheel design with 11 of the strand of "petals"
Use the remaining ball to make the center of the flower.
Bake for 30 minutes
Combine confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and milk and drizzle over pastry as soon as it is removed from the oven.
