½ cup yellow moong daal
½ cup masoor daal
2 cups water
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp turmeric

1 onion chopped
2 tbsp. of olive oil
½ tsp of whole jeera
1 tsp of crushed garlic
1 tomato - chopped into small pieces
½ tsp of turmeric
½ tsp of cumin powder
1 tbsp. of lemon juice
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
2 cardamom pods
½ tsp. of garam masala
½ tbsp. of cilantro

Thadka
1 tbsp. of oil or ghee
1 whole green chili slit
½ tsp. of mustard seeds
3-4 curry leaves
½ tsp of crushed garlic
¼ tsp kasuri methi
½ tbsp. of chopped cilantro

Directions:
Directions:
1. Wash the daals thoroughly and and soak for about 30 mins.
2. Boil the daals in 4 cups of water in a pressure cooker or saucepan with 1 tsp salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric.
3. Blend the Daal when it is completely cooked.
5.In a saucepan, heat oil and add cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
6. Add cumin seeds, garlic, onions and cook until they are golden brown.
7. Next, add tomatoes, lemon juice, cilantro, cumin powder and turmeric powder.
8. Pour the blended daal into the saucepan and let it simmer for about 10 mins.

Thadka
In a frying pan, add ghee or oil, fry the mustard seeds, green chili, crushed garlic and curry leaves.
Sprinkle kasuri methi.

Take the hot thadka and pour over the daal. Mix the daal and let it cook for about 10 min.
Garnish with some chopped cilantro and garam masala.

Serve with Rice or Roti.
