Bread Pudding

3 to 4 c. bread crumbs (soft bread torn into small pieces)
2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. raisins
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg

in a small saucepan scald milk and butter (until butter is melted and milk is steamy - do not boil). Remove from the heat.
Lightly grease an 8 x 8 square baking dish. Put bread crumbs into the dish. Sprinkle on raisins. Stir eggs, sugar, and cinnamon into the milk and butter. Pour over the top of the bread and raisins. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.
 

Lemon Sauce

1/2 c. sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. lemon peel
1 c. boiling water
1 T. butter
2 tsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and grated lemon peel. Stir in water and lemon juice; stir to dissolve cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, until thickened and bubbly; cook 2 minutes more. Remove from heat; stir in butter.
