2 cups flour
2 cups sugar

½ c. butter
½ c. shortening
3 ½ TB cocoa
1 cup water

½ c. buttermilk
1 tsp.baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla


Frosting:
½ c. butter
3 ½ TB cocoa
6 TB milk
1 pound powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix flour & sugar, set aside. In saucepan, combine 1/2 c. butter, shortening, cocoa & water. Bring to boil. Remove from heat. Pour cocoa mixture over flour mixture. Mix well. Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs & vanilla. Beat well.

Pour batter into greased & floured 16x11 inch jellyroll pan.

Bank 400° 20 minutes.

While cake is baking, make frosting. In saucepan, combine butter, cocoa, milk & powdered sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, to mix well. Stir in vanilla & pecans (optional). Pour over 'hot' cake. Half the recipe will make a 8x8 pan.
