2 Sticks Butter
2 1/2 Cups Sifted Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Soda
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Cloves
1Teaspoon Ginger
1/2 Cup Sugar or Sugar Free Substitute
2 Eggs
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Steen's 100% Cane Syrup
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour once. Measure and add baking powder, soda, salt and soft again. Cream shortening and add sugar gradually and cream well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine water and molasses. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, alternatively with the liquid, a small amount at a time, beating well after each addition until smooth. Bake in greased pan (10x10x2 inches) in moderate oven 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. Serve warm or cold with butter.

If using Sugar Free Substitute, bake at 325 degrees.
