3 lb Sirloin, rump or round roast
1 pouch onion soup mix, divided
1.2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 cups hot water


Directions:
Directions:
Place beef in a roasting pan. Rub half of soup mix into roast.
Sprinkle with spices. Add liquid, cover and cook at 500º f for 20 minutes.
Reduce heat to 325º f, cook 40 minutes. Remove roast, let stand covered for 10 minutes.

For gravy, add remaining soup mix to liquid, thicken with 2 tbsp flour dissolved in
¼ cup water. Cook and stir until thickened.
