¾ c. Butter Flavored Crisco Shortening
1¼ c. Brown Sugar, firmly packed
2 T. Milk
1 T. Vanilla
1 Egg
1¾ c. Flour
1 tsp. Salt
¾ tsp. Baking Soda
1½ c. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 c. Pecans, chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 375º

Cream Crisco, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Blend until creamy.
Blend in egg.
Combine flour, salt and baking powder and add to the creamy mixture gradually, stirring well.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if used) stir well to incorporate.
Drop rounded measuring tablespoons onto parchment lined sheet trays.
Bake 8-10 minutes for chewy cookies and 11-13 minutes for crispy cookies.
Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes then remove to a cooling rack to cool completely.
