1 cup of urad daal
2 tbsp. of red kidney beans
1 tbsp. fresh ginger
1 tbsp. fresh garlic
1 cinnamon stick
1 small onion chopped
2 tbsp. of lemon juice
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 large tomatoes pureed
1 tsp. tomato paste
1 tsp. of paprika powder (optional)
3 cardamom pods
3 cloves
1 tsp. salt
˝ tsp. green chutney
˝ tsp coriander chutney
˝ tsp of turmeric
1 tsp of coriander and cumin powder
˝ cup of whipping cream
˝ tsp cumin seeds
˝ tsp kasuri methi
˝ tsp of garam masala
2 tbsp. butter or ghee
˝ bunch of cilantro chopped
˝ cup of boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
1) Rinse and soak urad daal and kidney beans overnight in 4 cups of water.
2) If you have a pressure cooker boil the lentils with ˝ tsp. of salt or you can boil on the stove until the lentils are cooked and soft. Keep 1 cup of water and drain the rest of the water from the lentils.
3) In a saucepan add oil with 1 tbsp. of ghee or butter. Sauté cinnamon, cloves , cumin, cardamom and lastly chopped onions.
4) Cook the chopped onions until they start to brown.
5) Add ginger, salt, garlic, turmeric, coriander powder and cumin powder, tomato paste, paprika (optional) powder, lemon juice, coriander chutney and green chutney and stir well.
6) Add the tomato puree and cover for about 5 mins on medium or low heat and let it simmer.
7) If the mixture is dry and not at the desire consistency you can the add water and let it continue to simmer.
8) At this time you can add the remaining butter.
9 Sprinkle the kasuri methi and garam masala and stir lightly.
10) Taste the mixture for salt and spiciness. Add more salt or green chutney if needed.
12) Add the whipping cream.
13)Finally. garnish with chopped cilantro before serving Daal Makhani.

Serve with Rice, Chapatis or Naan.
