Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1 lb. of dates (chopped quite fine)
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cup boiling water
2 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts (walnuts are best)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates, baking soda and boiling water; let cool
Add remaining ingredients to the cooled mixture in order.
Pour into two greased loaf pans
Bake approximately 50 minutes at 350
