1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup cocoa

1 cup milk
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp vanilla

FILLING. ( I usually doubled this, I think)
Mix in saucepan and cook until smooth and thick:
5½ Tbl flour
1 cup milk
Cool thoroughly.
Beat until fluffy:
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Add flour mixture and beat until fluffy again.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Combine liquids.
Alternate dry ingredients with liquids, mixing well after each addition.

Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets 1/8- 1/4 cup. Try to use about same amount and form in circles as much as feasible.
Bake @ 450º 4-7 minutes
Remove and cool.

Make sandwiches filling with icing, wrap in plastic wrap and store in refrigerator.
