2 tbs of flour
1 stick of butter
2 chopped onions (yellow or white)
3 sliced carrots
1 stick of celery
4 diced potatoes
1 bay leaf
1 cabbage cut into quarters
1lb of smoked sausage
salt
pepper

Directions:
Directions:
In large pot cover cabbage with water
Add salt, pepper, garlic salt, and Tony's
Add sausage, carrots and potatoes
Bring to a boil then put on low and simmer

In iron skillet make a light roux with flour and butter
Add onions and celery and cook until translucent
Add hot water from big pot to avoid burning, and when onions are soft add to big pot

Simmer until tender (1-2 hours)

My Grandma Leah grew up in New Orleans in the German neighborhood. Her mother was from Germany and they were dirt poor so cabbage was often for dinner. This was her recipe.
