1 lb. dried red kidney beans
1 ham bone
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 lb. ham, diced
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup catsup, or chill sauce
large onion, chopped
2 tsp. minced parsley
1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 bay leaves

Directions:

Soak beans overnight, drain and rinse. Place in large heavy kettle; add hambone, ham, onion, green pepper, celery, garlic, catsup, sugar, salt, pepper and parsley. Pour in 2 qts. cold water (add bay leaves if desired). Bring to boil and reduce heat; cover kettle. Simmer for 4 hours or until beans are tender. Serve over rice.
