1½ sticks butter
1½ cups sugar
2 large eggs
4 ripened bananas, mashed
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
½ cup buttermilk, well shaken
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease 2-3 x 5 inch loaf pans.
With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the bananas and vanilla. Sift the flour, with baking soda and salt, and add to the banana mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in nuts.

Pour batter into the loaf pans and bake for 55 minutes. Cool slightly in the pan before turning the loaves out onto wire racks to cool completely.
