1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
pinch of salt
1/2 teas baking soda
1 egg
1 teas vanilla

Plain flour (enough to make dough that can be rolled out)

Cream sugar and butter and egg. Add other ingredients. Add all purpose flour with a spoon until you can handle it to roll out. Bake at 375 degrees 15 minutes

This is an old recipe from Grandma Stewart (who died before Brenda was born). Mammie thinks she rolled them out thinner than biscuits, but cut them out with a biscuit cutter. Can sprinkle sugar on top before baking.
