1 3/4 Cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup shortening or margarine
1/2 Cup peanut butter
1/2 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Chocolate candy kisses (approx. 36)
Additional granulated sugar to roll cookies in

Directions:

Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Cream together shortening and peanut butter. Gradually add sugar and brown sugar. Cream well.
Add beaten egg, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Blend in dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly.

Shape by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll in sugar; place on ungraded cookie sheets.

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and place a solid chocolate candy kiss on top of each cookie pressing down so that cookie cracks around the edge. Return to oven and bake 2 to 5 minutes longer.
