"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Directions:
Heat oven to 350°
Grease 9x5x3 loaf pan (or 3 to 4 smaller sized loaf pans)
In a lg bowl beat butter and sugar with a wooden spoon until smooth and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in pecans and mashed fruit. Add flour and baking soda mixture 1/2 cup at a time. Beat well after each addition. Stir in water and pour into prepared pan. Bake 55 to 60 mins or until a knife inserted in center of bread comes out clean. Remove bread from pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely before cutting. You can serve this with whipped cream or cream cheese.
( I like to make a hard icing with 1 C powdered sugar and 2 to 3 T of milk. The mixture will be very thick. Spread over the top of the bread and let it get firm before cutting.) Enjoy!
