2 quart apple cider
1 1/2 cranberry juice cocktail
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 (3 inch) sticks cinnamon
3/4 tsp whole cloves
1/2 lemon thinly sliced (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 6 ingredients in Dutch oven; bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Strain cider; discarding spices and lemon. Serve hot with additional cinnamon sticks if desired.

Keep warm in crock pot for cookie exchanges.

We made our spiced cider like this several years. Then we found mulling spices which can be found at Hallmark or other speciality stores. Adding that carton to apple cider or apple juice with cranberry juice also added, makes delicious spiced cider as well. This is the way we have made it now for some time.
