2 cups all purpose Flour
2 cups firmly packed Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 cup chopped nuts
1-2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup (8 ounces) Sour Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg
2 cups chopped Apples

Optional: Whipped Cream or Powdered Sugar for the topping

Directions:
Directions:
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off.
Combine flour, brown sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl.
Blend at a low speed until fine crumbs form.
Stir in nuts.
Press 2 3/4 cups mixture firmly into an ungreased 13x9 pan.
In a separate bowl, combine the cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg and blend well.
Stir the the apples into the batter and add remaining flour mixture.
Spoon evenly over the crumb base.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes clean.
Cool before cutting into squares or bars.
Top with whipped cream or powdered sugar, if desired.
Store loosely covered.
