1 cup sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup pecans
2 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
1 cup chopped dates
1 egg, beaten

Directions:

Melt butter and sugar in skillet. Add beaten egg and dates, cook for 2 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies and nuts.

Form into balls and roll in coconut quickly. These will harden quickly

Mom made these often for Christmas. They were very well received and I remember loving them. I have not made them for many many years.

Don't overcook when it says 2 minutes. Otherwise they will harden before you can get them into balls and roll in coconut. Tread lightly, the mixture is H O T when it comes out of skillet, and will burn fingers!
