"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

5 eggs
1/4 cup milk
Butter
1 large, wide loaf of French/Italian bread, bakery style, sliced into 1/2" slices

Directions:
Crack eggs into bowl. Add milk and beat mixture until smooth. Heat large skillet on low heat. Add enough butter to cover bottom. Do not let the butter burn. Dip bread into egg mixture, let excess drain off. Place on skillet. Fill skillet with dipped bread. Cook over low heat (simmer) enough for small bubbles to pop out of the butter. When golden brown on one side, flip to other side and simmer second side until browned. Once you take off the french toast, place each piece on a serving dish and place one pat of butter on each slice. Serve with maple syrup.
