salt
oil
2 cups sugar
4 Tbsp. butter
2-4 Tbsp. water
vanilla, optional

Directions:
Wash and peel potatoes. Cut into about 1/2 inch slices, lengthwise. Add potatoes
and start cooking over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of water. Add sugar about 1/2
cup at a time until melted. Add more water if needed. Too much water will make the
potatoes soupy. Add butter and vanilla. Cook until thick and potatoes are tender. Turn
the potatoes occasionally. Note: Be sure to watch carefully; they burn easily.
