3 cups Flour
1/4 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Cloves
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Ginger
3/4 cup Shortening
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg
3/4 cups Molasses

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift flour, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger together.
2. Beat shortening until creamy.
3. Gradually add brown sugar beating all the time.
4. Add egg and molasses and beat well.
5. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well.
6. Cover bowl and refrigerate.
7. Shape dough into small balls and roll in sugar.
8. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes,
