Carolyn Parker

1 lb butter
8 eggs
2 c sugar
4 c flour
1 oz. lemon flavoring
2 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. pecans
1 lb. each: candied cherries and pineapple

Cream butter & sugar, add flavoring & eggs.
Use 1 cup of flour on the chopped fruit and nuts-add the other 3 cups to the batter with the other dry ingredients.
Pour batter over dredged fruit & nuts. Mix well & pour into greased pans. I use a tube pan or 2 deep bread pans.
Bake at 200 for 5 hours for a tube cake.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mother's fruitcake was the "only" fruitcake our family would eat. It was always Daddy's favorite dessert cake and we all looked forward to the holidays
Now, I make this fruitcake multiple times a year. Brad and Sunny always come down to visit when they know one is in the oven!

God's giving is inseparably connected with our asking.

You do not have because you do not ask. James 4:2 NRSV
