1 lb butter
8 eggs
2 c sugar
4 c flour
salt
1 oz. lemon flavoring
2 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. pecans
1 lb. each: candied cherries and pineapple

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & sugar, add flavoring & eggs.
Use 1 cup of flour on the chopped fruit and nuts-add the other 3 cups to the batter with the other dry ingredients.
Pour batter over dredged fruit & nuts. Mix well & pour into greased pans. I use a tube pan or 2 deep bread pans.
Bake at 200º for 5 hours for a tube cake.

Mother's fruitcake was the "only" fruitcake our family would eat. It was always Daddy's favorite dessert cake and we all looked forward to the holidays
Now, I make this fruitcake multiple times a year. Brad and Sunny always come down to visit when they know one is in the oven!
