1 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted shortening
1/2 cup molasses
2 pinches of salt (Grandma's pinches were not big)
3 cups of buttermilk or sour milk
3 teaspoons of baking soda
2 1/2 cups of flour
2 1/2 cups of graham or wheat flour
1 cup of raisins

Directions:

Mix ingredients together and bake at 350 for one hour.
Makes 2 loaves
