• 1 1/2 cups stone ground grits
• 6 cups chicken broth
• 1/2 tsp onion powder
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• 2 cups shredded smoked gouda
• 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
• 3 green onions, sliced
• 1 tomato, chopped

Directions:

In a 6-qt slow cooker, combine stone ground grits, chicken broth, onion powder and garlic powder. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours. Stir in smoked gouda. Top grits with bacon, green onions and tomato.

Personal Notes:
I love any kind of grits but cheese grits are my very favorite. I don't always use stone ground grits because they take longer to cook but, in a slow cooker, they're the best kind to use. A true southerner never, ever uses instant grits! It's just ain't fittin'!
