"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

5-6 large dill pickles (cut each pickle into 4 pieces lengthwise)

Directions:
Take piece of steak and lay 1/2 slice of bacon at the end. Add a few strips of onion and one spear of dill pickle. Roll up as tightly as possible. Tie with string (on each end) or secure with toothpicks. Put oil into a heavy 4 quart pan and heat on medium heat. Add steak rolls and cook a few at a time until brown. Put steak on paper towel lined plate. Drain oil out of pan. Add brown gravy packets, red wine, bullion, and garlic. Stir until all is blended well. Heat until ready to simmer. Add steak rolls to liquid. Top with mushrooms. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer gently for 1 hour. Pull steak out of liquid and remove strings or toothpicks. Return to gravy. Serve on a hot bed of buttered noodles (sprinkle top with parsley). If you do not want on noodles parsley potatoes are a nice side.

Grandma Rosie used to make these in her crock pot. Always a favorite. I like to serve with Hot German Potato Salad on the side.
