1 Cup Hot Water
1 pkg. (about 1 cup) Dates (cut up)
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Shortening (Crisco)
1 Cup Sugar
4 Eggs (Beaten)
1 tsp. Vanilla
2-1/2 Cups Sifted Flour
1 Cup Chopped Nuts
1 Pkg. Hershey Kisses
Powdered Sugar to sprinkle

Preheat oven to 350

Mix dates, hot water and baking soda, let cool.

Cream sugar and shortening until smooth
Add Beaten eggs, vanilla, date mixture and flour. Mix
Add half of nuts and half pkg. of Hershey Kisses into batter.

Pour into ungreased 10" Tube Pan.

Place remaining nuts and Hershey Kisses on top.

Bake approx. 50 minutes. While warm, sprinkle with powered sugar and let cool in pan.
