Cake:
1/2 cup quick oatmeal
3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp, baking soda
1 egg
1/4 cup shortening
Frosting:
3 T melted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sweetened coconut
1/2 cup pecans
2 T. milk
1/2 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix oatmeal w/ boiling water and cover. Mix remaining ingredients and then stir in oatmeal when cool enough. Pour into greased 9 X 9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 23-25 minutes.
Mix all ingredients and carefully spread over cooled cake. Broil until coconut in browned. Watch carefully it doesn't take long. Recipe can be doubled for a 9 X 13" pan.
