Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies Recipe

3 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. soft butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
3 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Ornamental Frosting:
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
2-4 tbsp. cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla

1. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl. Cut in butter until particles are fine. Add egg, cream, and vanilla and blend thoroughly. Dough may be refrigerated if desired.
2. Roll out on floured pastry board to 1/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle with sugar, cut into desired shapes, or sprinkle with red or green crystals after cutting.
3. Bake at 400 for 5-8 minutes.

Ornamental Frosting: cream butter, blend in confectioners sugar, mixing well. Add cream a little at a time and vanilla; blend. You may tint different colors by adding a drop at a time.
