2 oz. red food coloring
3 Tablespoons cocoa

1 Cups sugar
Cup shortening
2 eggs
2 Cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Cup buttermilk

1 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. vinegar mixed

Mix food coloring and cocoa and set aside.
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, flour, salt, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix. Add food coloring/cocoa mixture. Mix. Fold in baking soda/vinegar mixture.
Grease and flour pans.
Bake 350 for 30 minutes.

Whipped Cream Icing

Ingredients at room temperature.
1 stick margarine
Cup shortening
1 Cup sugar
Add 3 Tablespoons flour one at a time mixing after each. ⅔ Cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla. Beat until fluffy.

Keep in refrigerator.
