Date Mixture
1 package dates, cut up
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. orange juice
Cook together until moist

Crumb Mixture
1/2 c. melted shortening
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. oatmeal

Mix together crumb mixture and pat 1/2 of mixture into 9x13 pan.

Spread date mixture and crumble remaining mix on top.

Bake for 30 minutes at 350
