Cake:
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
4 egg yolks
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. German's chocolate
4 egg whites

Icing:
3 egg yolks
1 T. butter
1 small can milk
1 c. sugar
pinch salt
pecans, chopped
1 c. coconut

Directions:

Cake:
Put chocolate in ½ c. boiling water and let cool. Cream sugar and shortening, add chocolate mixture and beaten egg yolks. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and add alternately with buttermilk to first mixture. Add vanilla and fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake 45 minutes at 350º

Icing:
In saucepan add 3 egg yolks, butter, milk, sugar and salt. Cook until mixture thickens and add pecans and coconut.
