1 gal. figs
2 lemons, cut up in small pieces, peeling and all
8 c. sugar
1 c. hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Boil sugar and water together until it looks clear (just a few minutes). Drop in figs and lemons. Cook slowly until liquid is like syrup, about an hour or maybe a few minutes longer. Put into jars and seal at once.
Note: If you prefer, you can store in freezer. Just be sure that the preserves are cool first.
