Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Two large boxes of Jello
4 cups of boiling water
½ gallon vanilla ice cream

{The above original recipe was my mom's that she got from my Great Aunt Henrietta. Stores tend to not sell ice cream in ½ gallons anymore, so Mark modified it a bit to fit with today's store standards. See below.}

* 3 small boxes of Jello (3 ounce packets)
* 3 cups boiling water
* 1.5 quart vanilla ice cream

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve 2 large Jellos in 4 cups of boiling water. (Boil water on stove.)
Make sure Jello is completely dissolved.
Add ½ gallon vanilla ice cream, stirring with large wire whisk.
After ice cream is completely melted (no chunks), stir a little more and then place in refrigerator for a couple hours, until the liquid solidifies.

Follow same directions as above, but use the following measurements for ingredients instead:
* 3 (3 ounce) boxes of Jello
* 3 cups boiling water
* 1.5 quart vanilla ice cream

Preparation Time:
20 minutes prep; a couple hours refrigerated to complete

Personal Notes:
This was my mom's go-to for family parties, so I hope you think of Aunt Janice if you ever make it. : )
I didn't know what category to put this in - it's kind of a dessert, but not really. We've never eaten it as a dessert, but as a side dish to a meal.
Upon hearing it's made with ice cream, people are usually hesitant, but encourage them to try it!
Don't use vanilla bean ice cream, or it looks like you have tiny flecks of dirt in your dish (not that I know from experience or anything, hahah).
Don't use low fat ice cream.
It's possible to make this with different colored layers, but give yourself several hours because the layers have to solidify in the fridge before you can put another one on top of it. It's a fun dish for any party because you can use so many different colors - and it's usually a big hit among kids!
