Nan Sexton

2 cups whole milk
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa (like Hershey's) (or to taste)
2 Tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Peppermint sticks

Combine milk and cocoa in a medium saucepan on low heat
Using a whisk, whip the mixture as it heats until smoothly blended
Hot chocolate should now be warm, but not boiling...
Add sugar and vanilla and continue to blend until hot....but not boiling...
Serve with a peppermint candy cane stirrer
(Nibble the candy cane between stirring...)

White Hot Chocolate:
3 cups milk
2/3 cup white chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Heat milk til simmering and add chips, stirring til melted.
Add vanilla extract and whip...Remove from heat and ladle into cups...

A nice warm drink while decorating the Christmas tree...

As quiet as a snowflake settling on the porch railing...
as happy as the carols playing on the radio...
that's the way the Christmas season
comes gliding into our lives...Merry Christmas
