-10 hot dogs
8-10 wooden sticks
Oil for deep frying

Sift together:
1 cup flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Stir in:
2/3 cup corn meal

Cut in:
2 Tbsp shortening

Combine and add to the rest:
1 slightly beaten egg
cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare batter. Heat oil to 350 to 375 degrees.
Pat franks dry with paper towels (this insures the batter will adhere to the hot dog). Insert sticks into the hot dogs. Dip into prepared batter then gently ease into hot oil. Deep fry for 4 to 5 minutes.

Tips: If batter is too thick, add a little milk. Always use good quality hot dogs.
