3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/8 tsp salt
2 eggs, well beaten
2 cups scalded milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 T butter

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, salt, and flour until thoroughly mixed. Add butter and eggs and beat until smooth. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Cook in a double boiler or over hot water until thick and smooth. Add vanilla and pour into baked pastry shell. Cool. Serve with whipped cream, if desire.

Optional: Make chocolate pudding by adding chocolate chips while mixture is warm.
